MAY 2019

“The family is in the midst of a parental separation, this has placed financial demands on the family. The child has been experiencing some emotional trauma related to the separation, and does receive support from the school Child and Youth Counsellor. The funds provided will support the school with being able to provide the child with the opportunity to experience the grade 8 graduation trip to Ottawa and celebrate her elementary school learning with her peers.” – HCDSB Principal

“Parents requested the financial support to pay for all of the grade 7 class trip to Camp Muskoka. The family are refugees from Syria and the parents are in the process to finding suitable work. The family receives help from the HCDSB Youth Settlement Workers.” – HCDSB Principal

“We are asking for funding for a student in grade 4 to attend summer day camp.  The student is identified as an exceptional pupil in our board.  Her parents are divorced and her father is asking for help to fund her attendance to summer day camp.  Maintaining two households is expensive and her father struggles to make ends meet.  The structure and activities of a summer day camp would be very beneficial for this student as she struggles with emotional regulation and social skills.  She loves arts and doing crafts.  Her father was hoping to put her into an arts camp.” – HCDSB Principal
