POVERTY REMAINS A POWERFUL FACTOR IN WHETHER A STUDENT SUCCEEDS IN SCHOOL

GOLFERS – Which Flag Had Your Name On It?

#1 – Thanks HCCEF. The financial help took off a lot of pressure and was greatly appreciated. – HCDSB Student who is living independently

#2 – The family is in the midst of a parental separation, this has placed financial demands on the family. The child has been experiencing some emotional trauma related to the separation. The funds provided will provide the child with the opportunity to go on the grade 8 graduation trip with her peers – HCDSB Social Worker

#3 – We were able to support two families with gift cards for groceries. Both families are single parent homes. One recently tragically lost a parent. – HCDSB Principal

#4 – This is a young man was recently homeless with his mother, living in a nearby shelter. Your help demonstrated to him that there are people in the community who care about him and his family. – HCDSB Principal

#5 – Since this family is a refugee family and mom has been struggling financially and trying to assimilate with the new culture and language. This helps provides great opportunity for the student to experience camp as she has not experienced something like that before. – HCDSB Social Worker

#6 – Our student is struggling with mental health issues. She is living at home but not able to access basic needs such as winter clothing, breakfast, lunch, snacks. – HCDSB Principal
