JUNE 2017

YOU HELPED THE GONZALES FAMILY

“Dear Halton Catholic Children’s Education Foundation,

We would like to give you a huge thank you, you were helping us to go forward and without your help, the situation could be worse for our family.

A few months ago, our house got fire and we had a difficult time. This situation was not easy to manage with our daughters; even we couldn’t sleep well, even now. We were living in a hotel for around 4 months and we were thinking what to do to keep our daughters distracted to help them to go forward, but our budget was so tight. We had to pay our bills, mortgage etc. We had to stop the payments and activities of our daughters and I was not working because I got a fracture, and my husband was without work for weeks.

My daughters were emotionally affected and we went to the school to find someone to help us with our daughters at the school. The school told to us to talk with the counselor Mrs. H. and we are so grateful for her help. God always is doing amazing things in our life.

We received funds from Halton Catholic Children Education Foundation to help my daughters to continue their activities and it helped them to keep distracted and go forward during this time.

We do not have enough words to say thank you, for the huge help that you gave us during this time.

Your organization makes lives better, and may you continue your service for many years to come to help families.

Words can not express our sincere appreciation to your organization and Mrs. H. for your assistance in providing us money to pay the activities for our daughters.

Your kindness and generosity will remain with us forever.

Thank you & God Bless You,

Eva Gonzales

HCCEF was able to help the Gonzales family, thanks to people like you who support the HCCEF Student Guardian Program!

You made this happen. You helped this family with their financial barriers to education…congratulations and thank you.

REALLY KIND HCDSB STAFF & SCHOOLS

HCDSB Staff & Schools already do so much for students, but when they were asked to help out HCDSB students and families in need, boy did they ever “step up to the plate”.

HCDSB Schools ran all sorts of events, including trivia nights, spirit days and selling Freezies…all to help those in our community who needed some compassion. Donations also came from Parent Councils. HCDSB Schools raised $20,237.29 since September. Thank You!

HCDSB Staff are incredibly generous. For the 3rd year, they were invited in April and May to make a donation to the Student Guardian Program. The result is that HCDSB Staff raised over $26,400 in donations and pledges. Thank you…that’s tremendously kind of you! Thank you to all of the school Volunteer Reps & the Steering Committee who did an amazing job.

Combined, the HCDSB Community raised $46,637.29 for HCDSB students in need – WELL DONE! You should be VERY proud.

That will help approximately:

  • 46 families undergoing unemployment or a health crisis, by providing food and basic necessities; or
  • 92 students experience a school trip of a lifetime;

OVER $20,000 RAISED –  HCCEF Charity Golf Classic

Wednesday May 31, 2017 – Hidden Lake Golf & Country Club

What a great day of golf, fun and helping students in need!

A little bit of liquid sunshine and some lightening could not slow down over 100 golfers, sponsors, donors and volunteers to help raise over $20,000 – Thank you!

Congratulations to all involved, you have helped …

  • … families like the Yousif family, refugees who have endured serious hardships, including a newborn undergoing weekly medical treatments.
  • … high school students like Elise feel a sense of dignity – she was walking to school with an old torn coat & with no hat or gloves.
  • … families like the Crux family, who have been going through an abusive situation – now living in a shelter and trying to navigate how they will provide food and clothes for 3 kids.
  • … to put a smile on Lisa’s face when she returned from a class trip to camp – a 1st time experience for her & memories with her peers to last a lifetime.
  • … to have a profound impact on students like Jason & Steven who attended a mental health program. Now their self-esteem & positive outlook are key to them succceeding in school.
  • … families like the Patrick family, who lost their father in the Fall & desperately needed support at Christmas time. They were extremely appreciative of the help.

THANK YOU!

TD HELPING STUDENTS IN NEED

Thank You for the $5,000 Donation

A great big thank you to TD, who recently made a $5,000 donation to the Student Guardian Program.

Students have a hard time concentrating on school when they are worried about being hungry. There are over 11,000 children in Halton (haltonpovertyroundtable.com) who are economically vulnerable, and are not able to meet their basic needs. TD’s donation will help students with financial barriers to education overcome these challenges. Thank you for your kindness.
